Ymir wasn't absorbed, because Ymir was a viable predeveloped host, interacting with an angel directly, where the angel itself was not at a viable stage. The reason Ymir, like Rei, readily fused with the titan/angel nervous system, Eve, is because it is a natural process in seed entities, seen in multiple accounts of direct contact, with Evas. Unfortunately, without a truly perfect interface, their powers couldn't be fully realized - that or Adam and Lilith had different properties than the undeveloped Eve, which Ymir fused with. But, the Evas needed human consciousness, so they wouldn't go berserk, and they couldn't risk making the powers death-transferable again, they altered them to have pilots instead, rather than directly fusing living humans to angel material. A much longer period of time passes and people created the Evas. That's how they really discover the black moon (egg/spaceship/vessel/seed) which we're introduced to in NG. But, knowing the origin of the titan powers, the world's governments set out to investigate whether or not there are more of these titan eggs, or seeds. Somewhere along the lines, titan powers stopped transferring, likely because they were somehow extracted and destroyed after Erin went berserk, because the world governments needed assurance that they wouldn't be a threat. Years pass and the AoT timeline comes to a close. And, it would be one of three, which all landed in the same place due to an error in trajectory during the solar system alignment which took place at the time. This is the same kind of vessel as the black moon Lilith came from. Let's call it Eve, to stick with the theme. Ymir got the titan powers from falling into a seed/moon, and fusing with the under developed nervous system inside. Neon Genesis and Attack on Titan are one story. Idk why I first posted this in r/196, or why I've never seen this theory before, but it's been in my head since I first watched AoT, after being a massive NG fan for years.

Feel free to post this there if you're more familiar with the sub. Didn't post in r/attackontitan because Idk how spoiler and crossover mixing works there, yet.
